HAS CRISCO GONE CRAZY?
That is a great question. It is one I’ve been trying to figure out myself, lol. A number of years ago my wife and I both sensed major transitions coming in our lives and yet we had no idea at the time how major they were. Since then we resigned from the church we planted and pastored for 12 years and our beliefs keep transitioning dramatically since then too. I’m so thankful for the freedom to explore without the burden of a system to try to control our journey. That doesn’t mean it has been easy. On the contrary it has been slow, painful and exhilarating at the same time!
You probably noticed that there aren’t as many blogs in the last six months. There are a number of reasons for this. The first big reason is that we put our house in Tennessee on the market and moved to Panama City Beach, Florida about 3 months ago. It has been a dream of ours for many years and the timing seemed right. Our house sold in 6 days and closed in three weeks which meant we didn’t have time to find a house in PCB, so we moved into an apartment with a short term lease. For all practical purposes this is the first time we have lived in an apartment.
There is something very freeing about moving because it creates a sort of spaciousness in the heart. It forced us to get rid of accumulated junk and literally thousands of books in my library and face starting life all over again from scratch.
Just last week we found a townhouse on Lake Powell that at different times of the day opens to the Gulf. The brackish water there contain alligators and sharks, lol. We just signed a contract and are looking forward to our new home.
As you can see from this picture, this is my new office! Many days I go here and set up camp to work from my ipad and phone. We are loving this new adventure if you can’t tell!
If you call me, the sound of children laughing, seagulls and ocean waves may fill in as background noise. It makes for a great place for mindfulness meditation and thinking deeply about life and love. My only regret is that everyone of my friends didn’t move down here with us. :)
WHAT ABOUT A NEW DAY DAWNING CHURCH?
One of the bigger transitions was that we also closed A New Day Dawning as a “church”. Yes, we still have the website and blogs and products, but we no longer have the official legal definition as a church. That simply means that none of the resources you purchase nor donations can be qualified as tax deductible.
Someone once asked why I charge for any of them at all and my response is that for now, it pays for the cost of maintaining the website. Plus a person isn’t paying for “truth”, they are paying for the years of work and research I’ve done. If people want to dig in themselves, everything I have written or taught can be discovered for free eventually through their own study.
Does this mean I will quit writing blogs? Probably not. At this point I think it is a great resource for people who want to come out of religious forms of Christianity into a more universal view of love and God. I can’t help but share what I am learning. I’m sure I’ll still write thought provoking things soon. But I have no desire to convert you, argue with anyone nor be a person’s guru or pastor. I am just sharing my journey publicly in a way that might help others to think critically about what they believe. My hope is simply that something here will inch you forward in your unique story.
MAY I HELP YOU?
There are a few things that seem to be “me”. Those are things like teaching, encouraging, healing/health, wealth ideas, and spirituality. It has always been my habit that when I discover something that I think others can benefit from, I broadcast it.
In “ministry” I was totally dependant on the giving of others and during that time in my life I was and am very thankful for the generosity of others. We didn’t preach tithing and yet some people were supportive in that stage of life.
But transitioning out of ministry into a new career is harder than it looks. I have a BA in BIble, a Masters of Divinity and Dr in Ministry. None of which are very marketable in the “real” world, lol.
I tried a number of different things from real estate, to Legal Shield, to Counseling/Coaching, to insurance sales. Eventually I found my niche with a couple of businesses that I could enthusiastically endorse and would provide an income for our family. Being in ministry for 20 plus years means I have a lot of catching up to do financially so I needed something that would be in harmony with my values, that I could do from home, give me flexibility and would allow me to catch up financially.

Some of you want me to preach. Others want me to start churches. Some want me to focus on one business and forget spirituality altogether. But the most important thing I can do, is be authentic to myself. I will keep writing from my own journey. I will keep sharing about how to add wealth and health to your life. I will hope for your greatest wellbeing. In other words my goal is to keep learning how to love in all of life, not just one area. That’s not so crazy is it?
